The Beauty of Small Breakthroughs- Mila M’s Story

A Mother’s Determination and a Family’s Love

3 year old Mila lives with her parents who have structured their lives around her care.

Having been diagnosed with dyskinesia, visual impairment and a genetic mutation, meant that Mila’s development was delayed. As such, one parent serves as her full-time caregiver, offering constant attention and support. Mila also has two older siblings, and together with grandparents, the entire family participates in her daily program. A huge blessing for them.

For the past year and a half, Mila has been enrolled in the Doman Method program through Doman International. The family has completed multiple visits and maintained close communication with their staff coach, carefully following every recommendation to ensure the best outcome for Mila.

“I was so impressed and amazed that I went to the website and got in contact to see if they could help my daughter too.” -Mila’s Mom

Support That Makes Continuity Possible

By early 2024, the family faced a difficult pause—the cost of continuing Mila’s next program update felt out of reach. In February, a scholarship from YaraStar Foundation made it possible for Mila’s journey to continue without interruption.

This support did not create Mila’s progress but it protected it. This allowed Mila’s family to move forward with updated evaluations, new goals, and renewed focus.

Progress You Can See and Feel

Over the last six months, Mila’s growth has been deeply encouraging. Her vision has transformed—from distinguishing only light and dark to enjoying detailed photographs and colorful images. She is now seizure-free as medication reduction continues carefully. Her muscle tone has strengthened, her crawling has advanced beyond the incline floor, and her reactions to sound have normalized. She is more vocal, more alert, and more engaged with the world around her.

“The family is one of the most diligent families I have coached. Everyone is involved, and Mila is responding beautifully.” - Mila’s Doman Coach

Looking Ahead With Purpose

With the help of the scholarship, Mila’s updated program will focus on mobility, early language, reading, nutrition, and respiratory strength—building on the foundations already laid.

Mila’s story reflects what can happen when progress is given room to continue. If this story encouraged you, consider sharing it with another family walking a similar path.
