Down Syndrome and the Power of Perseverance: Ana Sofía’s Story

For years, Vanessa poured her heart into helping her daughter Ana thrive. After receiving the diagnosis of Down Syndrome, Ana’s brave mom committed hours every day to specialized exercises, learning techniques, and therapy while Ana was still a baby.

Ana thrives thanks to the love and support she receives

They found help on the Doman Method® program, a form of holistic therapy that incorporates physical, intellectual and physiological programs to help children whose development is delayed to to various factors .

The impact of the Doman Method® for Ana was immediate. Ana achieved milestones that once seemed distant: crawling, walking, running, and now—reading. She has also begun writing letters and forming words, bringing her closer to her dream of one day writing and telling full stories.

“Ana Sofía has had huge strides on our program,”

said a Doman International staff member.

“She’s experienced Reading Victory, Language Victory, and is advancing rapidly in writing and speech. With continued support, she will only go further.”

Yet, access to the advanced program began to feel out of reach due to financial barriers.

“As a single mother, I wanted to give Ana every opportunity, but without help, it was impossible,” Vanessa shared.

With YaraStar’s scholarship officially awarded in January 2023, this meant Ana Sofía could continue the Doman International Doman Method program and attend her revisit in March.

For Vanessa, the relief is profound. She said:

When YaraStar gave us this opportunity, I felt like the world opened up for Ana, now, I see her future filled with possibility.

Now at 6 years old, Ana Sofía dreams of reading full books on her own, writing independently, and sharing entire stories with her words. Thanks to the hard work of her mom and Ana Sofia on the Doman Method® Program, those dreams are no longer far away, they are within reach.

For every child like Ana Sofía, YaraStar Foundation believes in honoring the strength they carry, and God-given potential. Together, we continue building a world where every child with Down Syndrome can thrive through education and love.
