Helena’s Journey Towards Independence
Helena’s parents have always been determined to give their nine-year-old daughter the best chance at life.
Hope for Helena, through Doman Method®
As a one-income household, the cost of specialized therapies for her rare genetic disorder, Deletion 3p25 syndrome — a condition that can affect growth, muscle tone, and cognitive development — felt overwhelming.
Yet even in the face of those challenges, the family stayed devoted to her progress, working to build her strength and confidence in communication at home, but they needed more experienced support if Helena were to continue to progress.
With a scholarship from the YaraStar Foundation, the financial weight was lifted just enough to keep their focus on what matters most: Helena’s therapy and growth.
On the Doman Method®; a holisitic therapy program, Helena has already made remarkable progress. She is taking more confident steps around the house and learning how to rise from the middle of the room without assistance. Her seizures, once a daily challenge, have decreased significantly, giving her more energy to explore and engage. While mobility and language remain her greatest hurdles, every session brings her closer to greater independence.
Her parents remain committed to continuing the journey — supporting her as she walks, learns to stand on her own, builds her reading skills, and begins a Doman card program. With dietary changes already showing success, their hope grows stronger each day.
At YaraStar, we believe every child is a gift. Helena’s story is a reminder that with love, persistence, and the right therapy, children with rare genetic disorders can move toward a future filled with possibility.
