Milka’s Tremendous Progress: A Success Story that Inspires

5 year old Milka runs and plays with joy

Milka was born with Down Syndrome, a chromosomal condition that can cause physical and intellectual delay in children.

Her courageous mother, a single parent, devotes her days to homeschooling and therapy to help Milk’s development, while also caring for Milka’s sibling who has Autism. Despite the ensuing financial challenge of therapy for her children, Milka’s mom’s commitment and drive to get the help she needed never wavered. She wanted Milka to reach her full potential.

Joining Doman International’s program gave Milka a new way forward. She transitioned from surviving on formula at 2 years old, to now eating and enjoying a variety of healthy foods by mouth. With good stride and gait, Milka is now beginning to experience the joys of running with laughter and confidence. She even understands more than 2,000 words thanks to her intellectual reading program and practices reading consistently.

The YaraStar scholarship awarded to her family helped ease the cost of the Doman Method®, Doman International’s holistic therapy program, giving her mother the breathing space to keep Milka’s progress through therapy on track.

For Milka, each new skill is a celebration; whether running with joy, trying new foods, or practicing words on the page - things that once seemed to be an elusive dream.

Her journey shows that growth doesn’t happen all at once but through steady victories brought on by perseverance. With her mom, family and friends cheering her on and the right program in place, her story is one of possibilities opening wider every day.

At YaraStar, we believe every child is a gift and through our scholarship program, we are happy to support families’ dream to make what was thought impossible, possible.

Milka reminds us daily that when love, support, and opportunity come together, lives are transformed.
