Darshika’s Courage Journey with Cerebral Palsy

Darshika, is a thirteen-year-old whose world has steadily opened through patience, practice, and persistence. Darshika lives with cerebral palsy, and for many years, everyday tasks—seeing clearly, expressing needs, holding objects—required extraordinary effort. Today, her progress is not only measurable, but deeply felt in how she engages with her surroundings and communicates with those who love her.

Darshika is now able to engage more with her environment

A Family Deeply Engaged in the Journey

Darshika lives with her dedicated parents who are actively involved in every part of her development. They commit up to eight focused hours each day to supporting her program at home, working closely with guidance provided through Doman International.

Their approach has been steady and hands-on—learning alongside Darshika, adapting routines, and celebrating progress as it appears. The family describes the program as a support not only for skills, but for Darshika’s overall growth and confidence.

“Yes, we are active, and the program supports us in the overall development of our child.”- Darshika’s Mom

Sustaining Forward Movement

In November 2024, continued participation in Darshika’s program became possible with the help of a scholarship from YaraStar Foundation. This support allowed her family to continue implementing updated activities without interruption, keeping momentum intact during a critical stage of growth.

YaraStar’s role was not to change Darshika’s effort—but to help ensure that the consistency already in place could continue.

Progress That Changed Daily Life

Darshika’s growth over time has been remarkable. Where she once struggled to see details or see across a room, she now reads words, sentences, and homemade books. Her vision profile evaluated by Doman International, has moved from Level III to Level VII, with similar gains in auditory and tactile processing.

Her understanding has now improved to the level of approximately an eight-year-old, she can grasp and hold objects, and makes a wide range of meaningful sounds. These gains have transformed daily interactions with her family—Darshika is more vocal, more expressive, and better able to communicate her needs and wants.

“She was not able to see detail consistently and could not see across the room. Darshika can read now—many words, sentences, and homemade books.”- Doman Method Coach

Confidence for the future

The family’s goals are clear and focused: continued respiratory strength, improved posture and sitting ability, and further growth in communication and mobility. They remain confident that this Doman Method program fits naturally into Darshika’s long-term development and well-being.

Darshika’s journey with Cerebral Palsy is a story that continues to evolve over time. Steady and consistent steps have already resulted in changes to her and her family’s world, bringing even greater hope for a future with more possibilities.
